current work

Recently, I started painting in oils on canvas. This, in turn, changed the nature and texture of my work, but the themes that always preoccupied me are still there. In MYSTERY LIGHT, my most recent piece, anxiety about the environment goes hand in hand with hope and joy symbolised by the avocets. Once almost extinct, these birds are now thriving in the UK, and the image of them wading undisturbed against the uncertainty of the background, seemed like a symbol of hope. Oil on canvas, 108 cm x 90 cm.
